Visitors of Blount County may find themselves pleasantly surprised by the amazing food and beverage options they’re able to come across in the area. Maryville, the hub of Blount County, is churning out fresh farm-to-table dishes, craft beers and cocktails, as well as decadent desserts for you to try yourself.

Below are two establishments having a major impact on the food and beverage scene in Maryville. If you’ll be in town visiting for the changing leaves, a popular fall festival, or anything else, be sure to visit Round 6 Brewing and The Walnut Kitchen.

Round 6 Brewing

Round 6 Brewing just opened its craft brewing taproom at the end of July but it’s already made a name for itself. What was formerly a concrete showroom became an amazing brewery at the hands of partners Will and Kathy Wesselman. The name Round 6 came from the brewery being the owner’s 6th “round” when it comes to his evolving career path. This has been a passion of his that’s finally turned into a reality, and he’s excited to share it with Maryville.

Round 6 Brewing has a number of rotating beers in cans and on draft, so be sure to keep up with their menu. They also plan to launch their own craft beers soon, so be on the lookout.

A Place For Everyone

When creating Round 6 Brewing, owner Will conceptualized a business where all are welcome. While the 2-acre space will continue to evolve as the brewery grows, there are plans to include an area for kids, books and games for communal use, and even a place where visitors can walk and play with their dogs. Maryville is a tight-knit community, and this presents itself in most everything… even the town’s breweries. Stop by to enjoy a seasonal beer in their taproom or beer garden.

The Walnut Kitchen

The Walnut Kitchen opened its doors at the beginning of the Summer, but the head chef and owner is far from new to town. David Rule, a native of Maryville, TN, has been working in the restaurant industry since he was 15. A job at his family’s local restaurant sparked his passion and he has since worked in other well-known establishments around Maryville before opening The Walnut Kitchen, his own creation and culmination of his years in the restaurant industry.

Unexpected and Delicious Flavor Combinations

The Walnut Kitchen’s Menu features dinner, desserts, brunch, and drinks. It offers a wide variety of interesting and unexpected menu items that make it a hit to the Maryville community. From Buffalo Frog Legs to Mountain Trout, you’ll be able to get a unique and delicious main dish from Walnut Kitchen. Finish off your meal with the Banana Pudding, Pot De Crème, or a local cheese plate from their decadent dessert listing. If Sunday brunch is more your style, you’ll have to make a difficult choice between Fried Chicken and Waffles, Steak and Eggs, Biscuits and Gravy, and many other southern inspired cuisines.
