If you are are wondering if this festival is for you, take a look at our list below! After you check it out you’ll want to be sure to mark your calendars for this festival happening October 5th through the 8th.

Something for the Beer Lover

It’s not Oktoberfest without mountains of beer made available for attendees. For the 2017 festival, there will be more German beer than ever before, with 18-20 bottled beers from 10 different breweries featured in the Beer Garden. The highlighted beer this year is the Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Wies’n that is brewed only once a year in Munich. Now you can taste it yourself without having to travel across the world! Although general admission is free, consider upgrading to VIP to take advantage of the exclusive beer tasting. The VIP pass also allows access to the VIP lounge where you receive free beer, food, and more.

Something for the Food Lover

If you are a fan of food from different parts of the world, you are in luck. At Oktoberfest, you don’t have to travel to try authentic German food. Instead, you can browse around the 35+ German specialty food vendors. And if that doesn’t hit the spot, Nashville’s popular foods will be made available as well. No matter what type of food you enjoy, Oktoberfest has a vendor for you; from pizza to bratwursts, funnel cakes, and ice cream, it’s all there!

Something for the Entertainment Lover

As you walk around the festival, be sure to take in the live, authentic German music from bands that originated in the European country. Learn their cultural dances and sing along to the Germanic tunes. There will also be karaoke stages settled throughout the festival that can really create lasting memories, especially after you’ve had a few craft beers in you. On Saturday you can watch the parade take over Germantown with baton twirlers, floats, marching bands, and more! When Oktoberfest comes to town, everyone knows!

Something for the Arts and Crafts Lover

If arts and crafts are something you enjoy, you’ll be happy to know that Oktoberfest has over 110 Arts, Crafts, and Specialty Merchant Vendors for you! Shop around for your next home decoration or create one yourself. You can even talk to the artist behind the different collections and learn how they take raw materials and transform them into fine crafts.

Something for the Kiddos

Although Oktoberfest is filled with alcoholic beverages, your kids can still have just as much fun as you, if not more. At the Kinder Play Garden, your kids can take advantage of the 2 kid zones (sponsored by Nashville Parent Magazine) that hold outdoor inflatables, multiple kid-friendly activities, and a play area. With face painting, storytellers, crafts, and more, your child will thank you for bringing them along. And the best part? It’s all free!

Something for the Dog Lover

Ever wanted to see a corgi dressed up as a hot dog? Now you can! The annual Pup Parade, included in the Saturday Oktoberfest parade, is coming back. Vote for your favorite dressed up pup to possibly win in 4 different categories or register your own pup to attend! Be sure to come back on Sunday to watch different weiner dogs race against each other to be the “fast and the furriest” in the Dachshund Derby. For dog lovers, this will be a real treat!

Something for the Fitness Lover

Stretch your legs for a good cause by running or walking in Oktoberfest’s certified 5K Bier Run (the second largest 5K race in Tennessee). The course, which loops through the historic Germantown streets before finishing at the Farmer’s Market, will be providing chip timing this year. The best part about the race is that all of its proceeds benefit the nonprofit Historic Germantown Neighborhood Organization to both improve and renovate neighborhood projects. Do good for yourself and others by registering to enter the race now.

Something for Your Competitive Side

Presented by Daddy’s Dogs, you can win a grand prize that includes cash, a gift card, VIP passes, and more! Enter to win the contest, held Saturday at 3pm. For even more competition, Oktoberfest brings you a 125 foot long Beer Slide that challenges contestants to race down the slide without spilling their 20oz Beer. At the end of the slide, measurements will be taken to see whoever has the most beer left unspilled. First and second place prizes will be given out to those who master the slide.

Can’t make it to Nashville’s Oktoberfest? Don’t worry! Louisville, Kentucky along with Helen, Georgia are also holding their annual Oktoberfests.
